Emily Parsons is a paramedic with Alberta Health Services Emergency Medical Services. She works with fire departments across Alberta that provide medical first response within their communities. Emily also looks after Alberta’s provincial Automated External Defibrillator registry; Heart Safe Community. Through her years of work as a rural paramedic, Emily realized the lack of awareness and resources that are available to palliative patients. After a personal experience of losing three close people to terminal illness and seeing how unprepared her friends and family were during this time, Emily was prompted to become an advocate for palliative care awareness.
On her rare day off, Emily disconnects from work, news, social media and other stressors. Her summers are spent tending to her garden.
