September 21 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

FREE

Dying to Know, presented by Hospice Calgary, is open to anyone interested in a variety of topics that help us to live well while facing uncertainty. The seminars provide information on preparing for end-of-life, offer strategies for staying resilient through challenging times, and help family caregivers become more confident in their roles.

The sessions are on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 6 – 7:30 p.m. on Zoom, and feature expert speakers and professionals. Register online at hospicecalgary.ca/education.

All sessions are free of charge. Hospice Calgary is a not-for-profit organization. Donations in support of this program help us build capacity in our communities and can be made online at hospicecalgary.ca/donate. Tax receipts are available.

Upcoming Fall Sessions

SEPTEMBER 21 – What is Hospice and Palliative Care?

Most Canadians want to die in their home, wherever that may be. Informing ourselves of the available options can go a long way towards making plans. Erin Forsyth, Director of Clinical Care at Hospice Calgary’s residential hospice Rosedale, will share information about Hospice and Palliative Care as well as how to access services and resources.

OCTOBER 19 – Advanced Care Planning

In this first of two sessions with Janine Violini and Jamie Whittaker, we will discuss tips to complete the paperwork we need before death occurs. This includes Personal Directive, Power of Attorney and the types of Wills one might consider. These topics are part of their Crows in a Row program designed to help achieve an end-of-life plan so that legacy is defined, wishes are honoured, and loved ones are taken care of.

NOVEMBER 16 – Funeral Planning

Janine Violini and Jamie Whittaker return for the second part of their Crows in a Row program. In this session we’ll discuss aspects of funeral planning and obituaries. The objective of these conversations is to alleviate stress by helping obtain a sense of empowerment, peace of mind, and completion.
