Eckville Death Cafe
February 5 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pmFREE
This will be the first in a series of four Death Cafes in the Eckville community, running every Wednesday in February of 2020. If these sessions are well received, they may be offered again in the future.
If you’ve never attended a Death Café, you may be wondering about what to expect. According to www.DeathCafe.com,
“At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death.”
Each session will involve discussions arising from the participants themselves with no intention of leading people to any specific conclusions, products, or courses of actions. This means that values and belief systems of anyone in attendance will be honored and respected. Although Death Cafes do not provide counselling or bereavement support, they do provide a safe and confidential space to share experiences and increase death awareness with the hope of helping people to live their finite lives to their fullest. A Death Café will not be useful to people who are not able to discuss death quite freely.
Death Cafes are always operated on a not-for-profit basis. This series is being offered for no charge but donations to the Eckville Municipal Library will gladly be accepted given their generous donation of providing the space for the event.
If you have any questions or would like to RSVP, please contact Jacquie at 403-350-4549. Although you can attend without registering, letting her know that you are attending will help in the planning of the events.
