Grande Prairie Volunteer Palliative Care Training Weekend
May 26, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Who: This free training session is for AHS Volunteers and Group Volunteers who are interested in becoming palliative and end of life care volunteers (PEOLC). Members of the public may register after completing the onboard process with their local Volunteer Resources Department.
What: This is a two day workshop with hands-on training, storytelling, case studies, videos and spoken presentation. It imparts the knowledge needed by PEOLC volunteers to support families and individuals at end-of-life. Our PEOLC volunteers provide respite to family members and solace by participating in vigils and sitting with their loved one, if they need to run home, run errands and to ensure that nobody dies alone.
Where: Evergreen Park – LSM Room, Grande Prairie, Alberta
When: Friday May 26, 2017 (1 p.m. – 8 p.m.) and Saturday May 27, 2017 (8 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.)
Details: Registration includes dinner on Friday evening and lunch on Saturday.
The program covers eight AHS modules:
- Volunteer role and history of palliative care with hands-on training
- Personal and practical care
- Medical care
